RWA Board Shoots Down Indie Writer Special Interest Chapter

Damn, it’s been way too long since I last posted.
I got some bad news. Some other RWA writers were doing the paperwork to get a new RWA special interest chapter established – an Indie Writer chapter. I was on the list of members who were VERY interested in joining.
But I got an email tonight from the Executive Director that the board decided to disapprove the request. Instead they will include self-publishing as a topic on the RWA members forum. I suppose that’s better than nothing but it still is very disappointing.
On the other hand, it took about a decade before RWA was willing to recognize e-publishers as “real” publishers. So maybe I shouldn’t have been so surprised after all.
Sigh.
Bummer…
